aXcess: Lead and Serve as an NGO Regional Manager in Central Asia

If you are passionate about the lost finding Jesus and about mobilizing local brothers and sisters to take His love and hope into remote areas, and if you are organized but flexible, love developing people and projects, and enjoy administrative work, too, then this may be the role for you. We are looking for an office manager to lead our regional non-governmental organization (NGO) office in serving our local community to help bring hope and healing to this region.

Position Type

  • International worker (IW)–aXcess –Vocational Track
  • Creative-access country (CAC)
  • Single or couple
  • Church planting, community center, community development (rural), community development (urban), discipleship, evangelism, leadership development, NGO

Responsibilities:

Ministry Location Information:

This is an unreached country with a rich and complex history situated at the crossroads of Asia and Russia. It is a stunning, mountainous land where cultures blend and traditions run deep. We live in a large city surrounded by farmland and villages. While this is a developing country and there are occasional interruptions to running water and electricity, these services are generally available. You’ll find modern conveniences like coffee shops, grocery stores, and restaurants in the city. Summers are hot and dry, often reaching over 100°F, while winters can be quite cold. The people here are incredibly hospitable—we often share tea and meals with neighbors and friends. There is a significant need for the gospel in this region. With 98 percent of the population following the majority religion, opportunities to share Christ and disciple new believers are both urgent and abundant.

Characteristics of International Workers:

Required Qualifications:

Vocational Track

Preferred Qualifications:

Language Expectations:

Language is an essential part of ministry. Those who do not know the language will attend a language study program. The goal will be to speak, read, and write the language at a functional level in order to mentor, teach, and train others.

Our language program is a full-time, two-year program where you work through language proficiencies with local language tutors to complete the program. Each person is also assigned a language coach who will regularly meet with him/her and help him/her through the program.

Health Considerations:

We do not have good access to quality medical services here. If there are serious health concerns or considerations, this location may not be a good fit.

Expectations for Spouse:

Spousal roles vary based on the spouse’s gifts, training, and abilities as well as the needs of the team. It is expected that both spouses will be meaningfully involved in meeting ministry objectives depending on the nature of family roles, children, etc.

Children’s Education:

Homeschooling is recommended at every grade level. There is the support of a full-time teacher who can provide homeschooling assistance or facilitate teaching in a one-room school house setting. Local pre-school in the local language is available here, but there are not good primary or secondary school options locally. For secondary school, boarding schools could also be an option to consider; however, homeschooling through secondary would also be supported.

Compensation Package

The successful applicant(s) will receive a full compensation package with the expectation that, once appointed, efforts will be made to raise a portion of support costs through the applicant’s network of friends, family, local church, or other resources. Information on support costs will be made available upon application. Training and/or coaching in fundraising is available.

Whole-Life Health

As part of an evangelical denomination, we are committed to biblical holism, which is modeled and reflected through our work. Due to this commitment, part of the required qualifications includes optimal emotional, spiritual, and physical health. These will be assessed during the application process.

Important Clarification

Applicant(s) should be aware that serving in the international world often requires a higher degree of grace and flexibility. For example, overseas teams can be suddenly and unexpectedly impacted by illness, government decisions, financial realities, team changes, or other factors beyond the team’s control. The challenge for applicants is that these factors can sometimes necessitate the sudden redefining of a position, which may take place before, during, or after the application/interview process has begun or is completed.
