Responsibilities: 

• Teach English or other life skills at our center (computer skills, marketing, etc.) 
• Use your talents and passions to build bridges of trust with young adults 
• Find opportunities to engage with members in significant conversations about Jesus 
• Invite members to read Scriptures and model Kingdom living in their culture 
• Collaborate with others on the team to plant house churches among the members 

Required Qualifications: 

Clergy Track 

• A recognized bachelor’s degree 
• Completion of at least 30 hours of Bible/theology/ministry and 15 hours of intercultural studies 
• Spouse must hold a recognized bachelor’s degree and have completed at least 18 hours of Bible/theology, 12 hours of missions/ministry studies (with a minimum of 6 hours in cross-cultural or missions studies) 
• Completion of Alliance Polity course 
• Completion of Alliance ordination/consecration 
• Minimum of two years successful Alliance Licensed Ministry Experience 
• A minimum Modern Language Aptitude Test (MLAT) score of 35 

Vocational Track 

• Completion of Alliance Polity course 
• Completion of the World Perspectives Mission Course (minimum of certificate level) or equivalent 
• A minimum Modern Language Aptitude Test (MLAT) score of 35 

Preferred Qualifications: 

• Be passionate about working within a team context 
• Experience or education in teaching English (ESL/TESOL/TEFL)  
• Have experience working with those of the majority religion  
• A clear call to cross-cultural ministry 
• Be a life-long learner, be curious with an attitude of learning, listening, and praying

Timeline for Deployment: 

Summer/fall 2025. All appointees are required to attend a cross-cultural and language acquisition program and pre-field course/experience prior to deploying. 

General Information: 

The capital is a sprawling, developing third-world city offering limited services, but it has extensive opportunities for growth. You would live in a semi-urban area, with some high-rises surrounded by homes with small courtyards. Homes are nice, but many do not have a continual supply of water and electricity. This can be remedied with a water tower and solar electric back-up system or generator. Primary roads are in fair condition but often congested. Local shopping options are limited, but essentials are available in local markets while imported goods are available at certain stores around town, including a few newer international grocery stores.

Language Expectations: 

Language is an essential part of ministry. Those who do not know the language will attend a language study program. The goal will be to speak, read, and write the language at a functional level in order to mentor, teach, and train others. 

Individuals will receive up to one year of intensive French language study before arrival in Guinea. Time will be allotted for continued French study during the first year of living on site. It is recommended, though not required, that you study a local language upon arrival. 

Health Considerations: 

Basic health services and medications are available, but overall, the country lacks comprehensive health care. Advanced diagnosis and treatment are usually obtained outside the country. Malaria is a fact of life in this part of the world, so use of prophylaxis is strongly recommended. Check the CDC website for further information. 

Expectations for Spouse: 

Spousal roles vary based on the spouse’s gifts, training, and abilities as well as the needs of the team. It is expected that both spouses will be meaningfully involved in meeting ministry objectives depending on the nature of family roles, children, etc. 

We require both spouses to fulfill language requirements. Our ministry at the center includes both young men and women, so both spouses are needed to serve. While raising a family comes with certain challenges, we are a flexible team and can be creative for ministry options at the center. 

Children’s Educational Plan and Options: 

An academy located in the region runs a quality school co-op from K-8 grade. They provide a teacher and operate at our mission headquarters in Conakry. There is also a French school with a bilingual program option that provides education and classes for both elementary and secondary levels. For high schoolers, there is a boarding school option available in Senegal (at the academy campus that runs the co-op mentioned above). Lastly, there is an American international school that offers K-12 grades.
