aXcess: Coworking Office Manager Among the Unreached in Senegal
This West-African city with a multimillion population in a majority religion country does not have a contextualized expression of church for two of its major unreached people groups. Our church-planting team is following up on contacts acquired through several access ministries (business, social media, development work). A coworking space will be the operating headquarters of this ministry. It will provide a neutral space for seekers to meet believers and believers to gather without exposure and will generate income to cover expenses and fund (social media) outreach. You will be the managing director of this coworking space (The Hub) and also be involved in evangelism and church-planting efforts. You will be part of an international aXcess team working among the two largest unreached people groups.

Responsibilities:
- Be the lead person for the running of the coworking space
- Be part of the team involved in social media outreach
- Build evangelistic relationships with non-believers, share the gospel with them, and be prepared to disciple those who respond positively
- Collaborate with the team in researching and implementing strategies to build bridges to this unreached people group
- Help organize new believers into fellowships and equip leaders for those groups
Ministry Location Information:
The capital is a major urban area, which often defies expectations of life in Africa. The weather is cooler much of the year, beaches abound, modern supermarkets and goods are available, and there are lots of options for eating out. On the flip side, many find it harder to build relationships, and battling traffic is always an issue. Dress is more conservative, especially for women. The team will provide support and guidance during the process of cultural learning and facilitate the development of new relationships and ministry contacts.

Required Qualifications:
Clergy (Consecration & Ordination) Track
- Completion of Alliance ordination/consecration
- Completion of at least 30 hours of Bible/theology/ministry
- Completion of Alliance Polity course
- Minimum of two years successful Alliance Licensed Ministry Experience
- Completion of 15 hours of intercultural/missions studies
- If married, one spouse must meet the clergy track requirements, and the other spouse must meet either the clergy OR vocational track requirements
- A recognized bachelor’s degree
- A minimum Modern Language Aptitude Test (MLAT) score of 45 or 55
- An entrepeneurial spirit, with preferred experience in running a business, management skills, and business acumen
- Some understanding of and a desire to work among majority religion people groups
- Be a team player—willing to work collaboratively on a team that includes local believers and IWs
- Ability to be faithful and intentional in building (online and real life) relationships that might take a long time before gospel acceptance
- Ability to live and minister in an urban environment with openness to occasional village ministry
Preferred Qualifications:
- Familiarity with current church planting strategies such as DMM, Discovery Bible Studies, and oral Bible storying
- Knowledge in and experience with social media (Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, WhatsApp, etc.)
- Experience in evangelism, preferably among majority religion
- Experience in discipling believers in spiritual growth and ministry
- Specific training or experience in working with those of the majority religion
Language Expectations:
Language is an essential part of ministry. Those who do not know the language will attend a language study program. The goal will be to speak, read, and write the language at a functional level in order to mentor, teach, and train others.
Fluent French (MLAT 40; level B2) is required to communicate with local partners and institutions, which will take place for one year in France. Upon arrival to the country, the worker will study the language and culture of the target people group for a minimum of one year before starting ministry responsibilities (MLAT 45 or 55 depending on the language chosen). The team will guide new workers in developing a participant-driven local language program.
Health Considerations:
The capital city has a milder climate (77–95°F) than interior regions, though it does experience high temperatures and humidity from August through October. There are high levels of air pollution at times, which can affect those with respiratory issues. High quality health-care institutions are present in the capital.
Expectations for Spouse:
Spousal roles vary based on the spouse’s gifts, training, and abilities as well as the needs of the team. It is expected that both spouses will be meaningfully involved in meeting ministry objectives depending on the nature of family roles, children, etc.
This ministry is a part of a larger team with other work in church planting, reaching professionals through business and leadership training, and medical ministry. A spouse could also serve in any of these areas.
Children’s Education:
You will be living in the capital where several good schooling options exist. Some team members’ children attend private bilingual French schools that use the French system. Most of the children’s classmates are the children of people from around Africa and Europe, as well as local children. Other team members’ children attend a Christian international Pre-K–12 school following the American system with all courses in English and taught mostly by Americans, as well as some foreign English speakers. The latter has two locations in the capital (one offers boarding) and one location about an hour outside of the capital.
Compensation Package
The successful applicant(s) will receive a full compensation package with the expectation that, once appointed, efforts will be made to raise a portion of support costs through the applicant’s network of friends, family, local church, or other resources. Information on support costs will be made available upon application. Training and/or coaching in fundraising is available.

Important Clarification
Applicant(s) should be aware that serving in the international world often requires a higher degree of grace and flexibility. For example, overseas teams can be suddenly and unexpectedly impacted by illness, government decisions, financial realities, team changes, or other factors beyond the team’s control. The challenge for applicants is that these factors can sometimes necessitate the sudden redefining of a position, which may take place before, during, or after the application/interview process has begun or is completed.
