aXcess: Camp Activities/Program Director in Indonesia
The purpose of Camp Lake Sentani is to provide a vibrant and effective ministry, targeting the children and youth of Papua, Indonesia. With 25 percent of Indonesia’s population under the age of 14, the Indonesia field is committed to reaching youth with the life-changing gospel of Jesus. The camp activities/program director will serve on a team of local individuals and IWs. He/she will give oversight/direction to the camp scheduling, program, and activities. He/she will be tasked with helping to develop local Indonesian staff grow as camp ministry personnel.

Responsibilities:
- Assist with and help to develop the programs for the various Camp Lake Sentani camping experiences (children’s camps, youth camps, retreats, and seminars)
- Assist with set up and execution of camp games and activities
- Assist with facilitating the overall camp experience
Required Qualifications:
- Completion of Alliance Polity course
- Completion of the World Perspectives Mission Course (minimum of certificate level) or equivalent
- A minimum Modern Language Aptitude Test (MLAT) score of 45
- A recognized bachelor’s degree (optional), if applicable
- Ample proficiency within vocation
- Study within field of expertise
Preferred Qualifications:
- A college degree in elementary education, youth ministry, or outdoor education
- Experience working at an Alliance camp or other camp
- A love for working with youth and children

Timeline for Deployment:
Summer/fall 2025. All appointees are required to attend a cross-cultural and language acquisition program and pre-field course/experience prior to deploying.
General Information:
You will serve as part of a multinational team. You will serve and minister primarily using the Indonesian language. We serve in partnership with the local Indonesian Alliance church (GKII). The town of Sentani is a rapidly growing region of Papua made up of people from the vast archipelago of Indonesia. It is a relatively modern region of Papua with roads, markets, stores, restaurants, electricity, cell phones, and internet; however, it is very much a developing southeast Asian city.

Language Expectations:
Language is an essential part of ministry. Those who do not know the language will attend a language study program. The goal will be to speak, read, and write the language at a functional level in order to mentor, teach, and train others.
Language school is typically nine units over the course of one year.
Health Considerations:
Quality hospitals for more serious needs are in Jakarta, the current capital of Indonesia. There are also local international doctors and nurses in and around Sentani.
Expectations for Spouse:
Spousal roles vary based on the spouse’s gifts, training, and abilities as well as the needs of the team. It is expected that both spouses will be meaningfully involved in meeting ministry objectives depending on the nature of family roles, children, etc.
This position could be filled out by a single person or a couple. If it is a couple, we would like to see the couple work together, being able to spend the night at the campsite when necessary, and helping in different areas where time and gifting permit.
Children’s Educational Plan and Options:
There is an international school located in Sentani.
Compensation Package
The successful applicant(s) will receive a full compensation package with the expectation that, once appointed, efforts will be made to raise a portion of support costs through the applicant’s network of friends, family, local church, or other resources. Information on support costs will be made available upon application. Training and/or coaching in fundraising is available.

Applicant(s) should be aware that serving in the international world often requires a higher degree of grace and flexibility. For example, overseas teams can be suddenly and unexpectedly impacted by illness, government decisions, financial realities, team changes, or other factors beyond the team’s control. The challenge for applicants is that these factors can sometimes necessitate the sudden redefining of a position, which may take place before, during, or after the application/interview process has begun or is completed.
