What Have You Seen, Learned, or Loved About God Lately?

This International Women’s Day, women from The Alliance share about how God has been moving in their lives

From the beginning of The Alliance until now, women play a vital role in bringing all of Jesus to all the world. We are inspired by and proud of Alliance women, whether they are sent as international workers, planting a church, sustaining work around the globe through donating, serving faithfully in church, or working on staff at an Alliance church or the National Office. For this International Women’s Day, we surveyed a group of women across our Alliance family and asked them all the same question: What have you seen, learned, or loved about God lately? We hope their answers bless you.

“I love how mindful God is. He is beyond aware of my circumstances. Whether it’s spiritual, physical or emotional, He fulfills my every need with gentle care.”

“I have learned that God’s love for me is not grounded in life circumstances, but in Christ’s sacrifice on the cross. God gave his Son for me! What more could he do to prove His love? When He allows me to go through hard things, this reality gives me hope because I know that He will always be with me in the struggle and will use it for my good.”

“I have been learning a lot about our brains and how God created us to need parts of His creation in order to be at our healthiest—parts of His creation that we also get to enjoy each day. An obvious one is that we must eat to survive and yet God created us so we can enjoy the many flavors He created. God also created our brains in a way that benefits us to take in the light that comes at sunrise and sunset—these are also both beautiful parts of creation that we can enjoy while they bring health to our brains. The same is true with play and worship music. Both of these are things we can enjoy each day and yet they bring health to our brains. As I learn all of this, I am continually amazed by all the details of God’s creation and His love for us that He would create our brains and bodies to need things that are also beautiful and fun to enjoy.”

“I have seen God working through the many changes and challenges of my husband, Franklin’s, healthcare journey. After an infection from surgery caused him to decline, a long-term care facility was a necessary step this past year. God has shown us His love each step of the way, as many people came to help and encourage us. In selling our home and moving, God was working! I have learned that God’s ways are not our ways, but His timing is perfect, although we don’t understand it at the time. In the middle of preparing to move, I fell and fractured my wrist, causing more changes and challenges. But songs, Scripture, and people have brought encouragement! Romans 11:33 says, ‘Oh, the depth of the riches of the wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable his judgments, and his paths beyond tracing out!’”

“Recently, I have been wearing a WWJD bracelet I found on the street. I know—kind of dorky. But I don’t wear it to remind me to be sanctimonious and holy. I wear it to remember to think with His heart, to be creative and courageous in my day-to-day encounters . . . to prompt me to look around with His eyes, to see who I can love, comfort, or encourage, or even give grace to, like Jesus would do. WWJD reminds me that I am called according to His purpose, that I am His masterpiece, created for good works which have been waiting for me since time began. Above all, WWJD reminds me that whatever Jesus would do, I can do, because I am forever changed by what Jesus did for me.”

“Something I love about God is that He forgives people. Even if you do things that are bad, He still loves you. I love that. And He always answers when I call. He knows what is good for me and some things just aren’t meant to be, but He knows what is best. It’s amazing that He talks to us in our dreams and in ways we can’t explain or see but you just get a feeling and know it is Him.”

“God is a helper, even when it is hard. He can help people focus and be patient.”

“I have learned that God will help me care for other people. Whenever someone in my class is hurt, I feel that God is nudging me to help them. I love that He cares for us and helps us care for others too. What I love about God is that He is strong and mighty. He gives us what we need and loves us, too.”

“I’m writing this from a place where people are not raised to know the name of one god, but many. They bring food and offerings to statues that glimmer and sparkle in the sun, but they will never be seen or cared for by a god with eyes made of stone. Lately, I’ve seen God work in places like this through His people, who are seeking the unseen, the unloved, and the unknown. I’ve learned that God still sees. He still whispers into the hearts of His people and prompts them into action. And they still respond, to bring hope and life to those who are unseen.”

“I have seen God through the people He has brought into my life regardless of the distance.  Whether by going out for coffee, grabbing lunch or dinner, or jumping on a video call across the country to connect and pray for each other, these communities have become my friends, prayer warriors, ministry partners, and family. I praise God for how He brought different people into my life to remind me of His love for me and affirm His direction in my life.”

“Often times we do not fully comprehend or appreciate the why, how, and when of our journeys while in the moment, but when we look back, we can sometimes see how the dots connected. Lately, I have been seeing how some of the dots in previous seasons connect. I have seen just how intentional, purposeful, and strategic God is and it is helping me continue to deepen my trust in Him.”

“Lately, I have seen a very beautiful side of God in the details of how He protects His people. I have witnessed him prevent accidents, seen Him move seemingly unmovable mountains for people, and watched Him lead individuals into places of safekeeping from dark forces. I have learned the importance of listening closely and responding with immediacy to the promptings of His voice. This week, my friends and I made loaves of sourdough bread. God encouraged me to share loaves of our freshly made bread, still warm from the oven, with my violent-tempered neighbors. Their attitudes softened immediately towards me. What I have loved about God lately is His constant presence here with me. He has been so good.”

“I’ve been reminded that God’s timing is always perfect, even when things feel uncertain. He is never late and always working behind the scenes.”

“He has been teaching me to love and be confident in myself. But not only that—He’s also showing me how to pour that same love into others, especially the younger ones around me, so they can see their worth and embrace who they are. It’s been such a beautiful journey of growth, faith, and sharing His love with those who need it most, by helping them understand how God sees us—perfectly loved, valued, and worthy.”

“I’ve seen that I am a loved daughter of the King, and He alone is my portion, my pleasure, and my inheritance. I’ve learned that who I am is not shaped by what I’ve done, what I hold, or the shifting seasons of life, but by the unshakable truth that I am His—seen, safe, secure, and satisfied. Holding my destiny in His hands, my whole being rejoices, for I love the privilege of being a deeply loved daughter.”

“If my hands are open to what God places in them, I continue to grow in my knowledge of Him and understanding of how much He loves me. I also appreciate this chapter in my life, during which I walk with Him as He shows me new and exciting ways of serving in Princeton Alliance Church.”

“I am reminded that God is always faithful even in the hardest times. He doesn’t promise our lives will be easy, but He does promise He will be WITH us! In the midst of lament, Jeremiah writes, ‘…my soul is downcast within me. Yet this I call to mind and therefore I have hope: Because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail. They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness’ (Lam. 3:20-22). Wow! Even though my soul was downcast when we had to return to the states from the mission field in 2018 due to unforeseen challenges, I had hope in His faithfulness! Then, He called me to a new mission: to be a chaplain in the USAF Reserve! Not only do I get the privilege of joining in His Kingdom mission, He assigned me to go (one month per year) to a base in Spain only two hours from where my daughter lives! I get to serve God and visit my daughter every year?! Wow! Then, when I was lamenting about being lonely in the military while far away from my husband, God called my husband to re-enlist in the USAF Reserve and He stationed us in Texas on temporary duty only two hours apart so we could see each other on the weekends! On top of that, God recently opened doors to go serve at Peterson SFB for six months with my husband just minutes away from my best friend! Wow! God is faithful when we trust and obey his orders to go wherever He sends us! Praise the Lord!”
