Project Name: Strawberry Girls Awareness

Each year, tens of thousands of women and girls are recruited from one North African country to pick strawberries in the fields of Spain. These strawberry field workers are often tricked into entering the sex industry with the promise of finding “better work” in Spain’s crowded cities. With little money, education, and social influence, many endure these traumatic experiences in silence.

Through this project, you will launch a tour of town halls, art exhibitions, universities, and other key sites in Spain to present original artwork, stories, and other resources that amplify the voices of those who have been unwittingly lured into and imprisoned by human trafficking. At the center of this awareness campaign will be a new book of stories and artwork, The Strawberry Girls.
