aXcess: Vietnamese Diaspora Ministry in Taiwan

One of the island’s larger communities of foreign residents are the Vietnamese who came to Taiwan seeking a better life. Often, they find misery instead. Vietnamese women married to Taiwanese men number over 120,000, and Vietnamese migrant workers number over 250,000. This team is reaching the workers with the gospel in detention centers and in their places of work, showing them the light of Christ in an otherwise dark existence. The Kaohsiung Alliance Church in southern Taiwan is a place where Vietnamese women and their Taiwanese family members can find Christ and grow in Him. Our team is working to see a thriving Vietnamese community of believers built up who will reach out with the gospel both in Taiwan and to their home country.

aXcess: Reach Migrant Indonesians in Taiwan

There are estimated to be 250,000 Indonesians working in Taiwan. Many are women who work as live-in caregivers for the elderly, and others work in factories or businesses. The majority of Indonesians in Taiwan come from the majority religion in their home country, and our team is seeking to introduce them to Christ through friendship evangelism and one-on-one discipleship. Most have limited time off from their work, so we seek to meet them where they are—in parks or other public gathering places. Once initial contacts are made, social media platforms are used as well for ongoing encouragement and sharing. It is our desire that in the future fellowships will be developed which may meet within the larger ministry context of a local church.

This is a tremendous opportunity to reach out to individuals who are often homesick and lonely and facing many challenges far from home. We want to introduce them to the One who offers them hope.

aXcess: Ministry to Overseas Cantonese in Taiwan

From 2019 to March 2021, more than 19,000 people from Hong Kong have moved to Taiwan and acquired resident permits. Having similarities in culture and language, these individuals are seeking a fresh start, and Taiwan is their preferred destination. People in transition, especially those who are lonely and grieving what has been left behind, are often the ones who are most responsive to the gospel message. Our team in Taiwan has taken hold of this window of opportunity to launch an outreach focused on new Hong Kong immigrants in Taiwan. Through networking, we are building fellowships and partnering with local C&MA churches to help these new residents find comfort and hope in Jesus as well as a new “family” in their new home.

aXcess: Church-Planting Team Member in Taiwan

Among ethnic Chinese across the globe, the Taiwanese remain some of the least-reached and the hardest to reach. Our team is planting churches in places where churches are few, Christ-followers are scarce, and the spiritual climate is challenging. In Taiwan, modern and contemporary co-mingle with traditional Chinese beliefs and customs. Most Taiwanese remain steeped in ancestor and idol worship. Those not in bondage to these spiritual forces are driven by the pursuit of materialism and personal success.

We are looking for people who will live incarnationally in a community in order to build relationships, share the hope of Jesus Christ, and help build up a vibrant community of discipled believers. We believe this is our window of opportunity to reach Taiwan for Christ—will you join us?
