Prayer Letter/Ministry Update

Dear Friends and Prayer Partners,

Thank you so much for your continued prayers and support. Like many of you, we are continually reminded that we are in the midst of the worldwide pandemic. We are thankful that with many receiving the vaccine, the numbers of cases is not increasing. Pray for much wisdom as we continue to open up churches with a limited capacity and strict requirements for health standards. Pray for our communities of faith that have experienced many losses and conflicts during the pandemic to see increased spiritual hunger and a desire to serve Jesus.

Prayer Requests/Answers to Prayer

1. Pray for those who are leading our churches as they navigate the world of hybrid services. Pray specifically for Gilberto and Laura, church planters in Mexico City. Pray also for Ana Miriam and Saúl who are sharing the responsibilities of pastoring La Fuente. Pray for Pastors Mario, Jonathan and Arturo, as well. Pastoring at a distance has taxed many and all are weary of Zoom meetings. Pray for our congregations to continue to give to support their pastors, even though many have been struggling economically. Pray for all of us to move out in faith and envision how to reach those who do not know Jesus yet.

2. Pray for our pastors and leaders to continue to boldly pray to the Lord of the harvest to send out more workers into the harvest. Pray for an increased vision for those people groups inside and outside of Mexico who have not heard the name of Jesus (LRPGs or URPGs). Pray for us as IWs as we refocus our ministries to work toward giving access to those who do not yet have access to Jesus and His Good News.

Pray specifically for our indigenous groups (Otomi, Wixarika, and others) during this crisis. They have not been able to sell their artisan goods on the streets which means they do not have income for food or basic needs. Pray for our Brave Heart volunteers as they work with these groups to find ways to help them and give them dignity. Continue to pray for the volunteers who are in charge of the homework help program. Pray for the volunteers who are suffering from "compassion fatigue" as they have been on the front lines during this difficult time.

3. Pray for more opportunities for partnering with like minded groups in providing theological training for those who desire to serve God in their communities and world. Pray for openness to consider alternative delivery sytems for training, such as online courses and orality. Pray for our national leaders as they seek to take training to some of the more isolated areas of Mexico. Pray for sensitivity to the cultural and spiritual challenges found with working among the ethnic groups. Pray for an "oral translation" of the Bible which is underway with one of the indigenous groups.

4. Praise God with us for the opportunity to continue to explore how orality can be a way to reach some of the unreached among the ethnic groups as well as international students who are studying here from creative access countries.

5. Thank the Lord for Bridgeway, the International Bilingual School, which serves our international workers and their families, as well as serves as a means of outreach to families in Mexico City. Please pray for financial provision as they struggle to meet financial obligations. Pray for unity and a sense of shared vision among the staff and teachers. Pray for Kevin, the director of the school. Pray for staff, teachers and students as they will open up for hybrid classroom settings on June 7.

6. Please continue to pray for unity and healthy relationships as we serve alongside our national brothers and sisters in ministry. Ask God to teach us how to walk humbly with Him and one another. Pray as we continue to look for ways to partner in reaching the least reached. Pray for God to give us a clear and unified pathway forward in completing the Great Commission.

7. Praise God for opportunities to serve God as I have contact with Venezuelan friends as well as "new friends" in Nicaragua. Pray as I walk with some young women leaders towards freedom in Christ. Pray for an outpouring of the Holy Spirit in the lives of these women as they learn to stand in their true identity in Jesus.

Thank YOU for giving to the Great Commission Fund and for praying!
