PURPOSE The purpose of the High School Pastor is to foster community among students, be a disciple maker, and come alongside parents to build life-long faith foundations preparing students to launch into adulthood. EDUCATION, SKILLS, ABILITIES, SPIRITUAL GIFTS - Bachelor of Arts in Christian Education or equivalent (minimum). - Experience in full time Student Ministry preferred in a larger student ministry (SM) setting. - Demonstrates the gifts of leadership, connection, and communication. - Capable of organizing, equipping, and developing a lay ministry team. - Displays the ability to motivate, direct and train adults and students in leadership roles. - Understanding of technology and social media as it relates to students. - Highly relational and well-liked by others. EXPECTATIONS - Love & serve Jesus, people, and His church. - Embrace and embody the mission and values of Christ Community Church. - Be reliable, take initiative, and be self-motivated. - Embrace and adapt to growth, change, innovation and creativity. - Use appropriate judgment in the areas of discretion, sensitivity, & confidentiality. - Enjoy a team-based environment consisting of cooperative, healthy and thriving relationships with supervisors and teammates. - Have a love for and commitment to building healthy relationships with students while working to develop them personally and spiritually. - Make good use of work hours- work efficiently, not more. - Be teachable, responsive, and respectful showing humility and grace towards others. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Programming (40%) - Provide compelling gatherings where connections can be made, seekers can come to Christ, students can develop personally and spiritually, equipping to live a life of faith, and opportunities are provided for purposes of outreach and service. Continually evaluate existing ministry programming and make agreed upon revisions as necessary to enhance spiritual growth of youth. - Create opportunities for unconnected youth to engage, come to Christ, move toward spiritual maturation, build life-long faith foundations, and serve others. - Collaborate with other ministries to integrate students into the life and worship of the church at large. - Create and launch special events with the SM Team that serve as a front door for students to connect. - Coordinate opportunities for students to be involved in mission activities locally, regionally and internationally. - Connect in the community by developing relationships with school administrators and teachers, nonprofits, and CCC’s local partners to serve our city, proclaim the gospel, and show the love of Christ in our community. - Remain current on literature, trends, and practices in Student Ministry. Development & Care of Students & Leaders (40%) - Help students come to clarity regarding their spiritual gifts, natural abilities, and acquired skills so that they appreciate their uniqueness in Christ, develop their gifts, and use them to serve in the church and community. - Work with the Director of Family Ministries to implement material that supports the scope and sequence of the learning and discipleship goals for students in grades 9-12. - Train students for leadership by teaching responsibility, accountability, and allowing their involvement in student ministry. - Meet with students individually in appropriate settings for the purpose of connecting with them on a personal level and building healthy relationships. - Manage the placement of students into Life Groups for High School Ministry. - Bring abusive situations to your supervisor immediately when observed or conveyed by other people. - Be a resource for parents seeking help in the parenting of their youth and how to be spiritual leaders in the home. - Identify, recruit, equip, train, develop, and oversee adults who will be on the volunteer team in the high school youth ministry. - Look for ways to engage parents and students together to foster healthy and holistic families in accordance with scripture. - Foster communication with parents and leaders through informational meetings, mailings, social media, and electronic communication. Administration (20%) - Emails, phone calls, etc., with staff, volunteers, parents and students. - Fulfill duties with paperwork, such as expense forms, room reservations, etc. in a timely fashion. - Collaborate with FM Team to produce the IMPACT calendar for the year. - Find areas where you can serve CCC outside the realm of Student Ministries. - Conduct follow up calls for new families to CCC weekly. - Fill out your timecard bi-weekly by the deadline set forth on timecard week. - Attend all CCC Staff Meetings SM meetings, and FM meetings as required. Relationships - Reports to the Director of Family Ministries. - Works collaboratively with the MS Director for ministry planning. - Meets with the FM Team on a weekly basis. - Works with the greater CCC Team.
