Director of Communications | Full-Time Reports to: Lead Pastor | Executive Team Purpose: SVA Church is seeking a highly motivated, creative and organized individual with a passion to share our mission through high-quality, timely, and purposeful communications. This position is responsible for managing the complete communications and marketing strategy of SVA Church in order to promote unity, authenticity, and clarity to the church body, ministry teams, staff, and the larger community. The Director of Communications should be comfortable with the following: Goal setting, strategic planning, communication, creative leadership, graphic design, web development, and volunteer coordination. Essential Functions: Organizational & Strategy • Attend weekly staff meetings and other creative meetings. • Set creative goals to be achieved each year in partnership with Lead Pastor. • Work with church and ministry leaders to develop communications systems and define priorities to create an environment in which messages can be communicated clearly, creatively and effectively. • Create clear and efficient lines of communication for ministry communication needs and requests. • Perform other communication-related duties as assigned. Design & Brand Management • Write and manage content for all communication channels at SVA Church, in partnership with specific ministry leads. • Create high quality, modern, and creative graphic material used for, but not lim- ited to, sermon series, events, online platforms, announcements, etc. • Monitor the look, brand, and feel of all promotional materials representing SVA Church. • Lead creation and execution of all printing, facility signage, and contract work with outside vendors for special projects. • Police the use of logos and images that represent SVA Church and our brand. Digital Communication & Social Media • Lead all efforts related to the creation, strategy, and execution of SVA Church digital communication channels. (Website, app, newsletter, social media, etc.) • Creatively build followings and engagement on various social media outlets. • Oversee social media messaging and communication strategies. • Lead messaging and strategy for social media advertising campaigns. Team Development • Enlist, equip and encourage qualified volunteer teams and interns to accomplish communications goals. • Work in close partnership with Lead Pastor, Worship Pastor, Online Pastor, and Media Director (videographer/live-stream). Media Relations • Create and implement a strategy for becoming more visible in the community. • Create an awareness and proactive relationship with local news publications, blogs, non-profits, and businesses. • Develop policy and procedures related to media relations. Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: • A mature, strong, and growing relationship with Jesus, heart for the local church, and a passion to use communications to reach others. • Strong visionary, planning, and organizational skills. • Able to multi-task and is a self-starter. • Effective team builder and motivator of others. • Strong communicator; both interpersonal and public. Must be able to communicate efficiently and effectively regarding all matters of SVA Church. • Strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills. This individual serves as the “eyes” for all things print and electronic, looking for clear communication, brand presence, and consistency. • Proficient in the Adobe Suite software (or another equivalent design software) and experience creating modern, unique, and eye-catching marketing materials. • Able to proactively and constantly improve communications processes, internally and externally. Other Strongly Preferred Qualifications: • Bachelor’s Degree in Communications, Public Relations, Graphic Design, Journalism, or related field. • A minimum of 2 years’ experience in the field • Proven experience creating and designing targeted content.
