JOB DESCRIPTION: STUDENT PASTOR HOPE COMMUNITY CHURCH — HUDSON, OH PURPOSE: The Student Pastor oversees a ministry that seeks to give every 7th grade through 12th grade student in our area a repeated opportunity to hear, see, and respond to the Gospel of Jesus Christ. They are to develop a ministry strategy that balances and implements our five primary values. • Increasing Movement of Prayer. • Irresistible Environments. • Influential Discipleship. • Incarnational Outreach. • Intentional Ministry Training. PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES: Personal Leadership Development: Leaders are learners. Intentionally pursue personal growth. • Maintain and pursue a personal relationship with Christ. • Read at least two books a year (one specifically related to youth ministry). Programming: Develop, promote, and coordinate a balanced program of activities to accomplish the mission, vision, and values of Hope Student Ministry. • Consistent Sunday Morning & Mid-week programming. • Retreats, Missions trip experiences, outreach and discipleship events throughout the year. • This also includes any message / sermon prep time, planning, and implementing time needed. People: Develop various strategies for people connection, training, and empowerment. • Teens: Develop and institute an ongoing strategy for connecting regularly with students. Church — Know names of each youth and parents attending Hope. - Personal connection with each youth on the youth list at least quarterly. - Face-to-Face interactions with each student at least once a year. - Follow up with first-time visitors at church / student programming, within one week. - Be available for counseling as needed. Community — Intentional effort to establish rapport with one or two local schools. - Minister to school leaders and coaches in tangible, practical ways. - Look for and take advantage of strategic opportunities to serve. - Support Hope youth in their school settings. • Parents: Develop a strategy to minister to parents that includes encouraging and equipping them. • Youth Workers: Identify, recruit, train, and empower men and women youth workers. Lead regular leadership development meetings with youth workers for planning and training. Ensure that all volunteers complete a Safe Place application, and ongoing training. Be involved in the lives of youth volunteer staff. • Youth Ministry Team: Develop a strategy to identify and develop student leaders by spending personal time with them individually and as a group. OTHER JOB RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES: • Meet weekly with Church staff. Report to lead pastor and meet monthly. • Prepare a Monthly Board Report. • Develop and distribute communication in a timely manner. • Attending and involvement in all church events as available. • Participate in C&MA conferences as required and as available. • Provide Pastoral care to students and families — hospital visits, weddings, funerals, etc.
