The Associate Pastor or (AP) at 217church oversees all aspects and areas of Spiritual Development for 217church from birth to adulthood. This includes working directly with and resourcing the leaders of kids, youth, small groups, women, men, and prayer teams. The AP is also responsible for being a second leading voice of the vision of 217church and most importantly the Gospel through preaching and teaching on a regular basis. The AP works directly with the Lead Pastor in praying and planning sermon series, events, local outreach efforts, global mission partnerships and the direction of 217church as a whole. Their main responsibility is to help each ministry leader create an environment where there is a clear path in growing closer in relationship to Jesus for those that are a part of our ministries. The AP has strong communication skills and the ability to preach the Word Of God with passion and conviction. They will have hands-on experience in both ministering to and equipping those who are leading some of the most vital ministries in our church. As part of his or her duties, they will also actively participate in weekly staff team meetings for planning, awareness and leadership development. The AP has proven skills relating to developing/discipling people, building teams, event planning, valuation for long term ministry health, and most importantly a deep care for people. 217Church is a mobile church with an urban ministry focus that partners closely with four local Alliance churches to see Kingdom Impact in central NJ. Requirements - A desire to work within the local church ministry context - A minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Pastoral Ministry or similar field - A commitment to become licensed or ordained with the Christian and Missionary Alliance - Minimum 5 years of ministry leadership experience in the local church context prefered - Strong desire to develop relationships and care for the people in our church - A willingness to serve in an urban environment - Proficient in Microsoft Office, Google Docs, Google Drive, Excel and major social media platforms Key Responsibilities: Spiritual Development - Recruit, develop, and train leaders for maximum impact in their respective ministries so that people can meet and follow Jesus - Help ministry leaders establish healthy and thriving ministries - Create a culture of ministry that welcomes those who don’t know or follow Jesus - Train small group leaders how to develop and value their relationships with one another and those who are in their groups - Equip 217kids and youth directors with the tools, resources, and support they need to continue establishing a flourishing youth ministry - Create an environment and culture in 217groups where people are being discipled into a deep relationship with Jesus Professional Development - Communicate with Lead Pastor regarding victories and challenges - Consistently contribute to the regular meetings and discussions - Practice timely, complete, and confidential communication - Use professional language in all forms of communications including emails Staff Development - Be a team player with a positive attitude who seeks to improve the Team by offering constructive feedback or recommendation - Attend Team meetings on a regular basis (every week) for evaluation, vision casting, strategy alignment, and team development - Build genuine and effective relationships with staff, volunteers, and community Personal Development - Have a consistent pattern of Sabbath (intentional, worshipful time to recover away from work and connect with Jesus) - Meet with the Lead Pastor regarding personal development goals and ministry-related accountability - Discharge all duties in keeping with a holistic, healthy, and balanced life In addition to excellent communication and organizational skills, he or she possesses a/an: - Vibrant personal relationship with Jesus - Passion to champion the role of the local church - Willingness to serve others in humility - Commitment to professional and personal excellence - Collaborative approach and a team mentality - Ability to multitask and meet deadlines - Creative spirit and a passion for innovation - Track record for consistency and reliability - Ability to “self-start” (i.e., recognize a need and initiate an appropriate response) - Knack for resourceful problem solving ***Compensation package determined by ministry experience ***Salary to include medical, vision, and dental benefits
