Alliance Northwest District C&MA

Field Director Full Time | Alliance Northwest Field Office | Portland, OR The Alliance Northwest is a family of 103 Alliance churches across Oregon, Washington, Alaska, and part of Idaho. The DNA of our movement is centered on Jesus and his declaration, “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.” As an Acts 1:8 family, we are seeking to courageously follow Jesus to saturate our region with vibrant, Spirit-led, missional churches. The Alliance Northwest is prayerfully searching for our next Field Director/DS. The ideal candidate will have strong leadership, administration and communication skills to confidently guide our family of churches through a complex, ever-shifting culture. With 70% of our churches in plateau or decline, our region has not seen a significant advance in Alliance churches in the last 15 years. However, through focusing on church health and multiplication efforts and a relentless commitment to preaching the whole Gospel to reach the whole world, our best days remain ahead of us. With this context in mind the next Field Director/DS should demonstrate experience in and passion for the following three areas: 1) Church health, church planting and church revitalization. The candidate has a good understanding of what constitutes a healthy church and values the use of church health assessment tools. He has practical experience in successful church multiplication efforts. He is familiar with the turnaround process and is committed to catalyzing revitalization wherever it is needed. He values the leaders in every size of church and community with a priority to support and catalyze their missional objective to reach the unchurched in their context. 2) Pastoral care, peacemaking and spiritual formation. The candidate has a deep affinity for pastors, their growth and spiritual vitality especially during seasons of grief and exceptional ministry challenges. He is able to navigate sensitive church environments, bring order to dissension and employ biblical peacemaking skills. The candidate is highly aware of their own temperament, limitations and need for inner transformation and seeks the help of others (counselors, spiritual directors, etc.) in pursuit of personal character development. 3) Apostolic, visional and strategic. The candidate is grounded in God’s Word and familiar with the historical distinctives of the Christian and Missionary Alliance as a Spirit-led movement. The candidate realizes the tremendous opportunity and responsibility to influence the Alliance Northwest for the next four years (the Field Director/DS is eligible to be elected to up to three 4-year terms). Thus he will prayerfully lead the district office to set strategy and vision; define and model godly values creating a positive culture; set goals and allocate personnel and financial resources to catalyze a Spirit-led movement in the Alliance Northwest. The family of churches that make up the Alliance Northwest share a unified bond to reach our towns, cities, neighborhoods and world with the love of Jesus. We love being together, worshipping together and partnering together to see the kingdom of God grow in the beautiful Pacific Northwest, which includes some of the most ethnically diverse zip codes in the U.S. We love seeing the local church thrive, leaders multiplied, churches planted and churches revitalized.
