DIRECTOR OF WORSHIP & FAMILY POSITION OVERVIEW The Director of Worship and Family is a full-time support position, with emphasis on building and supporting ministry groups. The focus will be on worship, family and young adult ministries. MINISTRY DESCRIPTIONS 1. Oversight of Worship Ministries – 60% 1.1. Develop worship services that connect people to God 1.2. Lead the congregation and members of the music ministry to grow in their hunger for God through inspiring worship 1.3. Mentor, train, and develop volunteer worship leaders 1.4. Give guidance to other music ministries of the church 1.5. Partner with the children and youth departments to enhance their ministry and develop future worship volunteers 1.6. Give leadership and oversight to sound, video, stage lighting 2. Family Ministry – 20% 2.1. Evaluate and develop ministry groups which should be started or strengthened to meet the needs of various subgroups in the church and community 2.2. Provide leadership for those individuals with families 2.3. Work in conjunction with other staff to ensure every family is connecting and growing 2.4. Build personal relationships with lay leaders through networking, mentoring, and discipleship 2.5. Develop relationships with unchurched families utilizing the ministry of the school and daycare with the hopes of getting them connected with the church 3. Young Adult (17-30) Ministry – 15% 3.1. Provide leadership for the 17-30 year old generation 3.2. Recruit and train leaders for various subgroups under this ministry (i.e. college, singles, married) 3.3. Identify and recruit potential emerging leaders 3.4. Collaborate with the Senior Pastor and nominating committee to recommend leaders for specific ministries 4. Support & Coordination – 5% 4.1. Serve as a fully functioning member of the ministry staff 4.2. Manage various day-to-day responsibilities associated with ministry 4.3. Counseling as needed 4.4. Occasional visitations – hospital, funerals, families, etc. 4.5. Other areas as directed by the Senior Pastor QUALIFICATIONS • Born-again Christian with a solid commitment to the Lordship of Christ in his/her life • Bachelors (or Masters) degree from an accredited college/university in a related field • At least 3-5 years of proven ministry experience • Experience in leading a band and worship teams • Strong vocal skills and proficient in guitar and/or piano • A sincere desire to be actively involved in ministering to people • Good rapport with congregation and healthy relationships with people • Must have a heart for lost people and a vision for reaching them • Desire to be a spiritual guide and mentor • Licensed or willing to be licensed by the WPA District of the C&MA • Ordained/consecrated or willingness to work towards it AMENABILITY • All Staff Amenable to the Senior Pastor and Governing Board REMUNERATION • Remuneration is set by the Finance Committee.
