Lead Pastor – Hong Kong
Alliance International Church (AIC) is seeking a Lead Pastor who is a gifted preacher/teacher, proven leader, faithful intercessor with a heart for missions and discipling leaders who will mentor others.
Position Type
- The Lead Pastor shall meet the New Testament requirements for office as listed in 1 Timothy 3:1-7 and Titus 1:6-9.
- A commitment to our statement of faith, vision, and core values (https://www.aic.org.hk/ refers).
- A Masters of Divinity degree from an accredited seminary. Ordination from a recognized denomination or organization is preferred.
- A minimum of five years’ experience in a Lead Pastor or comparable role preferably in an urban setting.
- Experience in and/or a heart for people in Hong Kong and its surrounding areas (Asia Region) is strongly preferred.
- A commitment to being a team player with shared leadership with under-shepherds (elders).
This person will be able to carry out the shared vision of AIC in a Godly manner (1 Timothy 3:1-7, Titus 1:6-9, 1 Timothy 5:17, I Peter 5:1-4, 2 Peter 1:5-7 etc.) understanding the diverse context of our international church community. The candidate is to have the experience and a calling to serve on a long-term basis this multi-cultural ministry in Hong Kong and beyond.
We sense that the Lead Pastor God is choosing for AIC will be a servant leader, highly relational, with vision and passion for people and for God’s work through the local church. He will have strong cross-cultural communication skills (both in the pulpit and inter-personally), a delight in developing new leaders, a heart for evangelism, and the ability to inspire others to walk more deeply with our Creator.
Responsibilities:
- Leadership and Vision
- Seek God’s word and God’s leading for AIC in concert with the under-shepherds (elders).
- Discern and communicate vision and direction.
- Administration
- Lead, shepherd and develop staff teams, under-shepherds and work with the governing committee (deacons).
- Effectively identify and develop the gifts and talents of church, staff and under-shepherds (elders)/ governing committee (deacons).
- Inspire, influence and challenge the spiritual well-being of the congregation.
- Obtain and balance suitably leaderships input when making decisions; shared leadership, working alongside each other ‘bringing people with you’.
- Serve as Chaplain of Christian Alliance International School
- Preach and Teach
- Preach with both depth and breadth (depth = doctrinally rich, Gospel-centered, authentic; breadth = multi-generational, relational, and relevant).
- Continue to develop a culture of expectation that God will expand His Kingdom
- Train and mentor pastoral staff as well as under-shepherds (elders).
- Lead the preparation and execution of vibrant, Spirit-filled, Biblical worship services done with excellence for the glory of God.
- Oversee the ever-growing missions involvement of AIC
- Set an example
- Model a life passionate for Jesus Christ and his kingdom. Expected to use gifting and talents in expanding his kingdom.
- Model a heart committed to sharing the good news of Jesus and his love with a lost world and making disciples in accordance with Matthew 28:18-20.
- Model a life of surrendered life and a personal reliance upon God – Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
- Model a rich implementation of the spiritual disciplines.
- Demonstrate a deep love for people and model discipleship by teaching and leading in the context of God-honoring relationships. Oversee the ever-growing missions lead by AIC.
Accountable to:
- Under-shepherd (Elders) in respect to spiritual matters
- AIC Governing Committee (Deacons) in respect to administration matters
