Prayer Letter/Ministry Update

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year from the USA

Christmas 2010 was my last Christmas in the US and I forgot how festive it really is: decorations, flowers, commercials, Salvation Army bell ringers, lights everywhere, products in the stores, Christmas trees, concerts and programs and many other signs of the season! I did enjoy and take advantage of many festivities . . . family and friends, eating my favorite foods, attending Christmas concerts and enjoying Christmas sales and discounts in my favorite stores. :)

However, while contemplating the events of Jesus' birth in the Bible, occuring in a culture more similar to life in Mali than the US, I thought about the people who lived those events. Luke chapter one depicts an elderly couple, Zechariah and Elizabeth, who were promised a baby, despite being too old. Next, an unmarried girl, Mary, was submissive to accept the angel's message to her, regardless of the obvious hurdles - she was not married and was even a virgin. Obedient people, two miraculous babies, one baby who was to be the forerunner for the Christ and the other baby was the Savior of the World, Himself. Both pregnancies could be argued to be just flat out bad timing! However, God's spirit was moving and the players were willing and available to participate in God's work, even though they were surly not aware of the whole picture. My prayer for each of you and myself for 2017 is that whatever God brings us, may we face it with willing, available, faith-filled and obedient hearts.

And Mary said, “Behold, I am the servant of the Lord; let it be to me according to your word.” And the angel departed from her.

I'll enjoyed seeing many of you this fall! My fall speaking tour went well and it was great to connect with old friends and new faces alike. I'll hit the road again from January to March. I'd appreciate your prayers as I communicate what God is doing globally and challenge others to get involved.

My schedule is as follows:
January 20-22: Crosspoint Community Church, Oconomowoc, WI
February 1: Gretna Alliance Women, Gretna, NE
February 5-8: Grace Community Fellowship, Missouri Valley, IA
February 12-15: Faith Community Church, Red Oak, IA
February 19-22: Cornerstone Fellowship, Shenandoah, IA
February 26-28: Harvest Alliance Church, Minden, IA
March 4-5: Crossroads Church, Perry, IA
March 12-18: Christ Community Church, Omaha, NE
March 19-22: Bethel Church, Boone, IA

Would you consider a special gift to the 2016 Alliance Year-End Offering? While traveling and speaking in many different churches, I'm reminded that the C&MA has a great system and raising money for missions is a COLLECTIVE EFFORT! A big heartfelt THANK YOU to the many missions senders who give to the Great Commission Fund. However, the needs are great and we can do more! Funds raised through this offering will be allocated to the Great Commission Fund and CAMA Advance Fund. There are a few more days left to give in 2016!

Praying God's nearness and fresh love to each of you in the new year!
With a thankful heart,
Carey

Prayer Requests/Answers to Prayer

- Pray for the continued safety of our team. There have been reports of a few carjackings on the roads in the Koutiala region.
- Pray for the outreach season as the weather is dry and "cool". Pray for the visiting work teams planned in January and February - that they would be tremendous catalysts for the Gospel in unreached areas.
- Pray for the hospital staff - that they would be filled with the Holy Spirit daily to give compassionate medical care.
