Prayer Letter/Ministry Update

Dear friends and family,
Thank you so much for those who have contacted us in the aftermath of the recent earthquake in Taiwan to see how we are. We are thankfully fine, after being startled awake about 4 am on 2/6. The 6.4 earthquake hit about 3 counties south of us and several apartment buildings collapses. It hit the news in the US almost immediately with photos of the devastation. There are no Alliance churches in that immediate area and we are unaware of it affecting "our family" here in Taiwan. However it is a terrible event with a lot of rescue and aftermath cleanup. We also know from experience the trauma effects of this kind of thing, so are "feeling" for the people involved. On top of this weather has turned cold for Taiwan during this week. So please continue to lift this situation up to the Father who knows all and cares for all. Here is a Sunday update in local news. http://www.chinapost.com.tw/taiwan/national/national-news/2016/02/07/457975/p1/%5BUpdate%5D-Earthquake.htm

On another front, thank you for your prayers for our return to Taiwan and ministry. We had an uneventful flight (always good!) and a relatively easy recovery from jet lag. We are back in the same house as before and are evaluating the church plant needs in our village. We are asking God to show us where and how He wants us to work alongside Pastor and Mrs. Tong and the believers at Sihhu Alliance Church. One interesting new thing is the aid of a local Christian English teacher who will begin an English class for upper elementary/junior high on Friday evenings beginning in March--20 students. We look forward to seeing how God will use this for the growth of the relationships and church. Please pray for Marty as she prepares and for just the right students to become involved, and for the funds for those who might like to attend but may not have the excess monies.

Today is Chinese New Year's Eve and families are already gathering for their special meals and family times. This usually includes gifts of money in red envelopes, and venerating the ancestors as well as the elders in the family. This week many will have more free time for visiting and relaxation. We hope to be able to reconnect with people during this time. Please pray with us for "God-appointments" that will give opportunity to continue to open doors for the good news of Jesus Christ.

Again, thank you. We are here with the loving support and prayers of many.
May this be a year of real growth 2016!
