Noe and Keila Hernandez

Serving in Paraguay

We are Noe and Keila Hernandez and we are living and serving in Paraguay along with our children Magdalena (14), Santiago (12), and Eden (8). We love good coffee, good movies and good conversation. Our daughter Magdalena (Lena) is a budding artist and can often be found drawing in her notebooks. Santiago enjoys soccer, the Green Bay Packers, and is only sitting still when it is his turn to play on the iPad! Eden is a clever and sweet girl who desperately loves her dog.

A native of Mexico, Noe grew up in a Catholic home and as a teenager moved to the United States with his family. At the age of 17 Noe gave his life to the Lord and felt a call to full time ministry. Keila grew up on a farm in Iowa and gave her life to the Lord when she was 10 years old through the ministry of a Christian radio station.

Both attended Crown College and were married in 2003. From 2005-2013 they worked in church planting and Hispanic ministries in Ottumwa, IA. Missions has always been something close to their hearts and in October of 2012 they began to sense God's leading down to path towards international ministry. They moved to Asuncion, Paraguay in January, 2014.

How you can Pray

There's a lot going on in Paraguay these days! Kids are back to school, ministry is in full swing, and we have LOTS of stuff in the next few months. Here are some ways you can partner with us in PRAYER.

1. The Alliance ministry institute in Paraguay (called IMAP) for current and future leaders in the Alliance churches now has 7 students in their second year and 8 in their first year. Please PRAY for both students and professors, for dedication to the courses and application to ministries. PRAY also as we work on establishing a more permanent facility for the classes. We have found an excellent option, and will be working in the coming months to have it ready for the start of year 3!

2. The Nemby Alliance Church has opened up a tutoring center for school age children from the neighborhood. God has blessed as both the children and their moms come and receive help as well as being great contacts for the church. Seeds are planted, so please PRAY for this ministry

3. The downtown Asuncion Alliance Church, which has been closed for a few years, is planned to be reopened later this year with Pastor Segundo Llanos and his wife, Patricia, sent from the Alliance Churches in Peru. Please PRAY for a smooth process in the endeavor.

4. New International workers, Stephen and Sarah Zuber and three children, have recently arrived in Costa Rica for one year of Spanish language learning. Please PRAY for a smooth transition and adjustments, and that they’d learn the language well. They will be joining us in Paraguay next year.

5. An evangelism team from Puerto Rico will be visiting Paraguay September 8-16. Please PRAY that their time here would be fruitful and a blessing to the churches and communities where they will be ministering.

6. Noe and our Field Director will be traveling at the end of September to Guatemala for a gathering of South American Alliance leaders. PRAY for safety during travel and a fruitful and refreshing time for both of them.

7. PRAISE the Lord for the short term work and vision teams that have come during the past months. They blessed us by their presence and were hopefully blessed in return.

8. Continue to PRAY for the Alliance youth retreat in November. Plans are coming together and we are looking forward to a great time with our teens!

9. The National Alliance Women's retreat will be October19-20. Please PRAY for the preparations, those in leadership, and those who will be attending. Patricia Llantos from Peru will be the main speaker at this event.

10. Finally, please PRAY for the mission review that will happen September 29-October 5. This is an every 5 year review meant to evaluate our work and direction over the past 5 years, as well as help us as we plan for the future. PRAY that it will be a time of encouragement for us as a field, and that we will move forward with a clear vision for the years ahead.

It's a busy time in Paraguay and we deeply depend on your prayers. Thank you for your faithfulness!
