ASSISTANT PASTOR/YOUTH POSITION OVERVIEW The Assistant Pastor is a full-time pastoral position, with emphasis on leadership, building relationships, discipling, and mentoring. The focus will be on general pastoral duties, leadership, youth, and technical ministries. MINISTRY DESCRIPTIONS 1. Youth Ministry – 50% 1.1. Develop an effective ministry to student grades six through twelve 1.2. Recruit, equip, and empower leaders to expand the ministry into junior and senior high youth 1.3. Develop a systematic approach to youth ministry that reaches and connects with all kinds of students 1.4. Provide balanced ministry that includes outreach to new students, discipleship of students who regularly attend, and leadership development for those wanting to engage deeper 1.5. Utilize a strategy to connect with all students on a regular basis 1.6. Communicate regularly with parents and youth leaders 1.7. Mentor students sensing a call to full-time ministry 1.8. Work in conjunction with staff to provide a smooth transition for students in and out of youth ministry 1.9. Support and involvement in C&MA WPA district and national C&MA ministry events 2. General Assistant Pastoral Duties – 40% 2.1. Serve as a fully functioning member of the ministry staff 2.2. Serve as a pastor on the governing & elder board 2.3. Preach/Teach in the absence of or at the request of the Senior Pastor 2.4. Manage various day-to-day responsibilities associated with ministry 2.5. Serve as the pastoral representative to the Somerset Christian School Board 2.6. Perform general pastoral duties – preaching, teaching, weddings, funerals, communion 2.7. Occasional visitations – hospital, funerals, families, etc. 2.8. Other areas as directed by the Senior Pastor 3. Technical Ministry – 10% 3.1. Provide leadership and oversight for the technical ministries of the church including our service streaming services, computers and networks 3.2. Provide initial problem solving for technical issues that arise and directing us to outside help when required 3.3. Work closely with our Director of Graphics Design/Communications to give oversight to our church website, app, and online giving QUALIFICATIONS • Born-again Christian with a solid commitment to the Lordship of Christ in his life • Meets the scriptural requirements of a church leader/elder (1 Timothy 3:1-13 & Titus 1:6-9) • Bachelors (or Masters) degree from an accredited college/university with a concentration in a field of Pastoral, Worship, or Music Ministry • At least 3-5 years of proven ministry experience is preferred • Highly relational and able to develop significant relationships • Ability to exemplify the church’s values and uphold staff policies • A sincere desire to be actively involved in ministering to people • Thrives in a team environment serving as a leader and a follower • Listens well and seeks to understands others • Good rapport with congregation and healthy relationships with people • Must have a teachable spirit • Hard working individual who is able to motivate and develop others • Committed to the disciple-making process and the development of leaders • Must have a heart for lost people and a vision for reaching them • A spiritual guide and mentor • Licensed or willing to be licensed by the C&MA • Ordained/consecrated or willing to work towards ordination/consecration AMENABILITY • All Staff Amenable to the Senior Pastor and Governing Board REMUNERATION • Remuneration is set by the Finance Committee.
