CHILDREN'S MINISTRY DIRECTOR --Leading the children’s ministry at Westgate Chapel means loving kids and investing in leaders. Every week, Westgate Kids engages hundreds of kids and leaders in relational and bible-based programs and events that will help children (and leaders!) grow in their relationship with Jesus Christ. Westgate Kids needs a Director that has a proven track record of being a leader of leaders who will shape and implement the overall vision for children's ministry. The Director will intentionally recruit, develop, equip and empower volunteers and staff to lovingly engage and reach out to all kids as well as partner with parents to foster well-rounded discipleship. Primary responsibilities: • Develop the overall vision for children’s ministry (birth through fifth grade) with a strong emphasis on discipleship and outreach to increase the number and diversity of children and families reached in our community. • Serve as Westgate’s primary shepherd of children, parents/guardians, volunteers and children’s ministry staff. • Facilitate the spiritual growth of children, birth through elementary school, through the development of age-appropriate Bible-centered curriculum. • Serve as the leading voice of the ministry in communication with parents/guardian and as one of the primary teachers in large group settings. • Implement and oversee a comprehensive volunteer strategy that identifies, recruits, trains, coaches, and monitors lay leaders for all areas of children’s ministry. • Ensure excellent implementation of Sunday morning programming, mid-week programming and special events (outreach, community, all church, etc.) for children’s ministry. • Develop a strategy for the equipping of parents to be the primary discipler of their children. • Select, direct, supervise, coordinate and evaluate the work of the Elementary Education Assistant Director and the Early Childhood Assistant Director; provide for their training and development. • Provide oversight to Westgate’s Breathe Special Needs Ministry and its lay leadership. • Provide financial oversight and responsibility for all facets of the children’s ministry. Key qualifications and background: • Be a born-again believer through faith in Jesus Christ, having made a personal profession of faith in, and surrender to, Jesus Christ as Lord. • Demonstrates a vital and growing relationship with Jesus Christ through regular prayer and study of the Word while also modeling a Biblical pattern of life and leadership that demonstrates a love for God and His people. • Exhibits evidence of clear call to children’s ministry. • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field, with a preference for a ministry degree, and minimum 5 years of experience in children’s ministry or related field. • Possesses a passion for Bible-centered discipleship of children and their families. • Is a proven servant-leader with the ability to design, develop and manage an effective leadership team and build a vibrant ministry aligned to the mission of Westgate Chapel. • Inspires and motivates people: to cast vision with a contagious enthusiasm while working collaboratively with various teams. • An effective communicator with children and adults across a broad spectrum of written and verbal forums. • Strong ability to recruit, lead, train and manage large teams of volunteers. • Is licensable by the Christian and Missionary Alliance (C&MA) and is in full agreement with the stated mission, purpose and statement of faith of the C&MA. *Resumes should be sent to DaveJ@westgatechapel.org
