Youth/Student Ministries Pastor of Youth Ministries Description of Position: * Qualifications / Experience: Primary desire is to know Christ. A deep sense of calling and passion for working among students. Takes serious their communication of God’s word – who embraces FAC’s philosophy of accuracy and relevancy. A proven ability to develop and inspire an excellent lay leadership team. Proven ability to develop student leaders. Proven ability to work with parents. Understands and embraces FAC’s vision and values. Operates with discernment and maturity with a goal to godliness. A ministry related bachelor’s degree with experience in ministry is preferred. Licensed / ordained or willing to be licensed / ordained with the Christian and Missionary Alliance. Prefer worship leading experience. Expectations Exercises self-leadership in maintaining family and spiritual life. Excellence in Student Ministry programming. Build and maintain a healthy and committed adult ministry team. Build and maintain a healthy and committed student ministry team. Understand and embraces FAC’s vision and values. Build and maintain good communication with parents, leaders and students. Champion your area but be committed to the best of the team over individual ministry. Serve as a pastor of First Alliance Church. General administration and good stewardship. Work closely with the Children’s Director to integrate a comprehensive strategy for discipleship, leadership development and holistic family ministry. Required Skills Spiritual Maturity: An authentic, humble, bold and obvious love for God and his word. Communicating God’s Word: Communicating God’s word effectively in multiple contexts. Shepherding: Providing pastoral care and spiritual guidance for students, leaders, and parents. Organizational: Setting and maintaining priorities while effectively integrating work efforts. Time Management: Is able to plan and organize own use of time, meets deadlines, and doesn’t have to continually rely on the last minute. Problem Solving / Decision Making: Weighs alternatives and makes sound decisions in a timely manner, reaching competent, sensible, and valid conclusions, following a systematic pattern of logic. Communication: Effectively communicate through formal and informal channels while determining which method is most effective given the situation. Description Ministry Development: Ongoing cumulative and direct responsibilities to achieve the Ministry Objectives for Student Ministry to include vision casting, strategic planning and the ongoing implementation of the strategic plan. Personnel Development: Develop, oversee and supervise all direct reports within the Student Ministry. Ongoing, direct responsibilities include input into hiring, organization, delegation and empowerment, and accountability for each direct report within the Student Ministry. In addition, oversight of personnel development including establishing clear expectations, ongoing evaluation and coaching, and a corresponding personal development plan of each person. Volunteer Development: Develop, oversee and supervise all volunteer development within Student Ministry. Ongoing cumulative and direct responsibilities include needs based recruitment, appropriate deployment, ongoing evaluation and training and overall volunteer care. Team Member: Serves as a pastor on staff and is included in the leadership, future vision implementation and problem solving for the body at large. Shepherding: Shepherding people either inside or outside of our personal ministry area. Along with the above job description, the Pastor of Student Ministries will also complete any other responsibilities deemed necessary by the leadership of FAC.
