Hillside Church Worship Pastor/Minister The worship pastor/minister will work closely with our lead pastor and staff in cultivating worship services and worship teams that help lead our congregation to see and savor the greatness of God in Jesus Christ, in the power of the Spirit. This person will have a strong, healthy, personal walk with the Lord and be able to serve out of the overflow of his or her life in the Spirit. Fostering dynamic, interactive, congregational worship led by the Holy Spirit and centered on Jesus is a key priority for our church and we are seeking an individual who’s called and gifted by God in the following areas: Specific Responsibilities 1. Planning our weekly Sunday 10:30am contemporary worship service. Choosing congregational songs and hymns that engage the congregation and support the reading and preaching of God’s Word. Using the best of the old and best of the new. 2. Modeling and leading heartfelt worship from a lead instrument (guitar, piano) in an invitational style that draws people in, encourages participation, and points people to Jesus. 3. Recruiting, auditioning, teaching, and training musicians in the church to serve the congregation as a team with musical skill and humility. 4. Leading weekly rehearsals on Tuesday nights that serve a dual purpose: (A) preparation for Sunday and (B) cultivation of Christ-centered community. 5. Perform administrative functions to enable the ministry, including (A) use of PlanningCenter software to prepare team worship schedules, music copies, Sunday run sheets, and emails to team members, (B) update ProPresenter software with songs and media for worship services, and (C) setup and upkeep of stage and tech room (cables, mics, stands) 6. Serving as a member of the staff ministry team at Hillside Church, demonstrating a commitment to this congregation and its mission. This may include participating in and serving in additional events and projects as designated by the lead pastor. This individual is expected to: (A) be gifted in leading congregational worship (B) possess leadership and organizational skills (C) be a team player, and (D) be a Spirit-filled Christian worshiper and a person of prayer. Ideally, this person would also be skilled in: • A variety of musical styles – contemporary Christian, classical/hymns, theatrical, gospel, jazz – so as to create variety and appeal for the sophisticated Westchester community • Arranging special songs and performances for services like Christmas Eve and Easter. This could include forming a small choir or handbell ensemble, for example. • Introducing new music at an appropriate rate so as to keep the music fresh but not overwhelming • Leading/teaching the congregation with short exhortations, Bible readings, or other creative means such as spoken word, in order to guide the people in biblical worship.
