Syracuse Alliance Church Position Title: Sr. Pastor Position Purpose: The role of the Pastor is to work with the Elders of the church in overseeing the life, teaching, and direction of the church. The Pastor will have a firm grasp on the church mission, vision, values, and strategy and have the ability to align paid and volunteer staff as well as leadership teams with such. The Pastor will offer pastoral leadership to the congregation alongside ordained and volunteer ministers. The Pastor will ensure that the systems, practices, and policies of the church responsibly, efficiently, and effectively support its ministry. Position Summary: 1. Preaching and Teaching: The Pastor will be the primary preacher and provide the primary leadership for planning worship services. 2. Strategic Leadership and Planning: The Pastor is responsible for strategic planning and staff coordination in the execution of the church’s purpose. The Pastor will define strategic goals and vision as a key leader among staff and elders and lead the implementation of that plan 3. Staff Supervision and Development: The Pastor serves as director to ordained and volunteer staff. He leads, evaluates, and mentors existing staff in their respective areas of ministry. 4. Administration: The Pastor oversees and executes the administration of the church through appropriate staff and volunteer leadership teams, and ensures the completion of ministry, business, facility, and logistical support functions through staff and lay volunteers. Experiences, Gifts, and Abilities Required: 1. A growing and personal relationship with Jesus Christ demonstrated in a life lived above reproach and dedicated to prayer. 2. Gifted in leading and preaching. 3. Skillful in leadership and organizational management. 4. Strong relational skills. 5. Ability to recruit, train, and direct teams and team leaders. 6. Experienced in an urban multi-cultural community and church. 7. Passion and experience in developing ministries to free people from generational poverty. 8. Has a history of motivating people to spiritual renewal and outreach. 9. Has a commitment to small group ministry. 10. Has a passion for global outreach. 11. Isn’t adversely impacted by snow and cold weather. 12. Three years’ experience in a church setting preferred; Experience in both contemporary and traditional styles preferred. Expectations: Agree wholeheartedly with the C&MA and Syracuse Alliance Church mission, values, perspectives, and statement of faith. Classification: Sr. Pastor, Full-Time, 40+ hours per week on average, salaried, FICA, health care plan, retirement plan, paid vacation, housing provided or housing allowance granted.
