Alliance Northwest District C&MA

Job Description We are seeking applicants for a full-time Youth Pastor position. This person will be a lover of God who demonstrates clarity of calling and conviction that aligns with a vision for Word-based, Gospel-centered discipleship. This position reports to and receives mentoring and support from the lead pastor. Context: Crossroads is in the midst of a significant, and exciting, season of growth and transition. We have been under the leadership of a new lead pastor since January (’17), and have just launched a church-wide discipleship training process in September. This process functions as a leadership pipeline to equip the congregation for ministry both within and outside the church. We have also recently established a partnership with a coffee shop / youth mentoring ministry that has agreed to put one of their coffee shops in the lobby at Crossroads (Coffee Oasis: thecoffeeoasis.com) in the new year (’18). Crossroads has grown from around 200-300 in weekly attendance since January. Our prayer is that God would call and send a person equipped to help lead our church toward a fuller realization of our mission statement: leading all generations to know Christ and make Him known in our neighborhoods to all nations. Qualifications • Believes in the God the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit as articulated in the Apostle’s and Nicene Creed • Understands and can preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ and teach God’s Word with integrity of heart, clarity of reason, and passion of conviction • Demonstrates a life lived out of a personal relationship with God grounded in the sober awareness of God’s grace toward us in the cross of Christ • Demonstrates emotional stability in relationships, social competence, and self-awareness • Maintains a healthy balance of independence and connectedness (neither reclusive nor needy), has the ability to focus alone and engage with others • Teachable, lifelong learner Responsibilities • Scope: supervision and leadership over Youth Ministry: indirectly over Middle School, directly over High School • Maintain contact with students and parents, keeping them informed of ongoing activities. Keep parents updated on ministry strategies and plans in a way that encourages partnership and involvement. • Support parents in effectively fulfilling their responsibility to disciple their children • Assist in the development and oversight of the youth ministry budget • Participate as needed or requested in the evaluation and development of the overall church ministry. • Work alongside lead pastor for weekly Gospel-centered curriculum planning • Work with lead pastor in figuring out ways to bridge the generational divide in a sustained intergenerational discipleship effort • Continue to recruit and build leadership teams • Attend weekly staff meetings and occasional retreats • Keep regular office hours (TBD based on hours spent working outside of the office: youth gatherings, events, retreats, etc. etc.) • Attend worship services, prayer service, and special meetings. • Present annual ministry updates and goals for the coming year to the Elder board. • Participate in a yearly staff evaluation review. • Present a yearly youth budget proposal. • Pulpit supply (preaching) for main service upon lead pastor’s training and under his supervision
