Prayerfully seeking new staff with a heart for inner city ministry to join a multi-site leadership team functioning in gift-based ministry (Ephesians 4:1-16) to reach the lost, gather the scattered, and equip the church in two of the most ethnically, culturally, and socioeconomically diverse pockets in the Midwest. Primary responsibility is to oversee Christian education and family ministry activities for the West Side Alliance Church with emphasis on youth & children. This leader will work closely with the Senior Pastor of West Side Alliance & the rest of the multi-site team to first learn, then serve, first this local congregation - as well as the extended church network. Duties below are to be exercised so as to win, equip, and release the priesthood of believers as quickly as possible into their areas of giftedness to serve in Christian education and Family Ministries. • Teach/train leaders to teach kids & youth in various contexts. • Contribute to the Christian education & discipleship of all members in mutual collaboration with all pastoral staff • Plan & oversee annual family/couples retreat • Rebuild the Kids Ministry Team (KMT). • Provide oversight & input to KMT regarding curriculum, SafePlace processes, & volunteer recruitment & training • Growth & discipleship of the current kids & youth among their peers • Provide oversight & input to Youth Ministry Team (YMT) regarding curriculum, SafePlace processes, & volunteer recruitment & training • Oversee & work with KMT & YMT regarding integrating families into serving in the kids/youth ministries • Serve as liaison to community associations connected to WSAC • Oversee the leadership of family ministry outreaches (e.g., Holy Ghost Party, picnics) • Oversee & plan new outreach activities among kids, youth, & families within 20 blocks of the WSAC building • Equipper, coordinator, organizer among the church family Primary Qualities: 1. Humility Are you willing to disciple, submit to, & learn from a homeless brother/sister in Christ without bias? Are you willing to disciple, submit to, & learn from a wealthy brother/sister in Christ without bias? 2. Willing to be (or learn to be) a “neighborhood chaplain” – Not from an office but interacting on the streets, in the parks, on front and back porches. 3. Team Oriented – Living out mutual submission and gift-based team ministry (Ephesians 4:1-16) 4. Aware of racial and socioeconomic biases – Fully confessing personal biases as the Lord has revealed it to you and/or willingness to confess as the Lord reveals it to you as you serve 5. Fun – Able to engage in and encourage others in regular, Godly fun 6. Inter-generational interpersonal skills – Should be comfortable speaking and relating to children, youth, adults, and elderly with varying levels of education 7. Incarnational – Should be willing to move into the neighborhood (by the way, housing is cheap!) 8. Willingness to be bi-vocational – Willing to work part-time at another job or in another profession to relate better with the community and if additional financial support is needed. 9. Able to adjust leadership style per context – Should be able to “lead from the front,” “lead from the middle,” and “lead from the back,” as circumstances dictate.
