The Alliance Church of Elizabethtown, part of the Christian and Missionary Alliance denomination (C&MA), is an established church located in Lancaster County PA with about 225 regular attendees and a vibrant, growing youth group (45 youth). Working with a team of volunteers and reporting to the Lead Pastor, the Youth Ministries Director will lead as well as be directly involved in the spiritual growth and development of the church’s youth groups (grades 6-12), in accordance with the church's mission statement: assisting people to "KNOW Jesus Christ, GROW to be like Him, and GO serve Him." RESPONSIBILITIES: Ministerial: A. Facilitate and develop ministry programs that will help the youth come to KNOW Jesus Christ, GROW to be like Him, and GO serve Him. B. Facilitate regular opportunities which will challenge the youth to take “faith-filled risks” to serve and witness for Christ to their peers, to this community, and beyond. C. Facilitate a worshipful culture. D. Clearly communicate biblical truths. E. Model Christ-like behavior, be authentic, be teachable. Relational: F. Cultivate meaningful relationships with the youth. G. Encourage, shepherd, and counsel youth to add Christ-like maturity to their faith and actions. H. Foster discipleship/mentoring relationships with the youth. Provide doctrinal correction as needed. I. Develop and support small groups for the youth. J. Assimilate new youth into the group. K. Address conflict in a biblical manner. Administrative: L. Lead, equip, and cooperate with the Youth Leadership Team (YLT) in the overall administrative and visional oversight of the youth ministry. M. Recruit, train and encourage volunteer youth staff to assist the ministry efforts. N. Cooperate with and promote C&MA district and national youth events as appropriate. O. Supervise the selection, ordering and distribution of resources and materials used within the youth ministries. P. Communicate regularly with the parents/guardians of the youth in regards to the overall vision of the youth ministry, ministry updates or concerns, activities, etc. Q. Regularly meet with the Lead Pastor to discuss initiatives, challenges, victories, plans, and prayer requests. R. With the YLT, regularly review Youth ministry expenses in comparison to the approved annual budget. S. In consultation with the YLT, annually recommend new goals and budget expenses for the next calendar year to the Elders for presentation to the Congregation. T. Perform other related duties as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS: A. Passionate for ministering to youth. B. Zeal for the spiritual growth of youth and their families. C. Be motivated to reach youth for Christ and to spur believers on to maturity. D. Dedication to reach unchurched youth and their families with the Gospel. E. Demonstrate a sincere and growing walk with the Lord and Christ-likeness in character and in mission. F. Clear, intentional communicator with strong oral and written communication skills. G. Demonstrated ability to facilitate, motivate and lead teams of volunteers effectively. H. Demonstrated experience and training in leadership of youth ministry and/or Christian education. I. A heart for worship; worship leader ability helpful. J. Demonstrated spiritual gifts and abilities appropriate to the position, such as leadership, exhortation, administration, pastor/teacher. K. Attain a Pennsylvania State Police criminal background check, PA Child Abuse clearance, and a proof of mandated child abuse training taken within the last 12 months. L. Be in agreement with the Doctrinal Statement and Alliance Perspectives of the denomination, the Christian and Missionary Alliance (C&MA) (http://www.cmalliance.org/about/beliefs/). M. A four year college degree in pastoral or biblical studies with two years experience leading a youth group of 20+ students is preferred. In lieu of a four year degree, two years of college in an appropriate field of study with four years experience leading a youth group of 20+ members may also be considered. COMPENSATION: A. NOTES: Candidates currently licensed with the C&MA may be considered for an Assistant Pastor of Youth Ministry title. Candidates not currently licensed with the C&MA will be expected to pursue licensure with the Eastern Pennsylvania District of the C&MA.
