Alliance New England

International Alliance Church (IAC) in Providence, RI is seeking a Pastor to provide spiritual and pastoral leadership to a congregation that is in transition and focused on the future. Founded in 1980, IAC has had a very effective ministry with the Cambodian population in and around Providence, Rhode Island. As much of that population has gradually moved away from the area, the church now finds itself in what has become largely a Hispanic and African American neighborhood. A new vision has been cast to reach these neighbors with the gospel and to fully embrace the name of the church by becoming a truly international church, welcoming worshippers from all ethnicities and walks of life. To this end, we are seeking a leader who is comfortable and experienced in a multi-ethnic and cross-cultural environment. Someone who can cast vision, cross boundaries, build cohesion and unity, and live incarnationally in an urban setting. As part of their vision to reach and serve their neighborhood, IAC has offered its sizable facility for use as a C&MA Envision Site and plans are underway for staffing and launching this ministry. International Alliance Church is an urban church of about 50, located in Providence, RI. Providence is the capital and most populous city (191,000 people) in the state of Rhode Island. It is a compact, thriving city that offers vibrant business, educational and cultural opportunities within the backdrop of New England history. IAC is located in the Elmwood neighborhood of Providence, one of the city’s most ethnically, culturally and racially diverse neighborhoods. Despite typical economic challenges, Elmwood is also a community with considerable assets, including a historic district with beautifully restored Victorian homes; two thriving and well-traveled commercial corridors; and a number of parks and community gardens. This position requires a bachelor’s degree in Bible, Pastoral Ministry or other ministry-related field and five years’ experience in vocational ministry. Candidates already licensed or ordained with the C&MA are preferred; but all candidates must be able to meet licensing and ordination requirements with the C&MA. To be considered for this position, please forward your resume and any accompanying materials to the New England District office of the C&MA, attention: Shelley Moulton Director, Development & Placement Alliance New England P.O. Box 288 South Easton, MA 02375 Please do not contact the church directly.
