Fifteen West African nations have given leaders of a coup in Mali 72 hours to relinquish power or face sanctions. Alliance workers in Mali have been alerted and are preparing contingency plans for evacuation from the country if needed.
Our field director for The Alliance in Mali reports that “Sanctions would include closing the borders as well as freezing the flow of money into the country.” Due to border concerns, the families of MKs who attend Dakar Academy have been advised to travel to another country for the remainder of the Spring Break to ensure students can return to school.

“… What a difference your faithful giving has made for two villages in the third-poorest country in the world!” wrote the Hanscomes from Mali, recently. “All of this was made possible because of gifts to the Great Commission Fund!” The Hanscomes were referring to a medical outreach that included partnering with the Alliance church in Mali and a medical team from an Alliance church in Omaha. The team experienced remarkable spiritual breakthroughs in these Malian communities, previously shrouded in spiritual darkness. Before the outreach, there had been just one believer between the two villages. Now there are more than 25!
